Strauss racing started as a pipe dream in 2001 after finding
an abandoned car in a corn field (this is Iowa after all)!
After a lot of hard work, I was able to rebuild the car and
race at
Hawkeye Downs Speedway.
I ended the 2001 race season in 4th place in over all points...not bad for a rookie!!
Hawkeye Downs was going to cancel the class after the 2001 season. CRD Promotions
picked up the Thunder Stock class (and other Saturday night classes) and we were back in
business for the 2002 season. I finished 8th in
2002 and 5th in 2003.
Near the end of the 2003 schedule
the Saturday night program came to an
end. That is when we were converted to
IMCA Hobby Stock cars. This will allow
dirt track guys to race at Hawkeye
Downs with out changing anything as
well we have a opportunity to try
running on dirt. That is once we get
the new car figured out on asphalt
first. We will keep you posted.
Strauss Racing would like to thank it's
sponsors and fans, without them none of this
would be possible.
